New Age Fencing
Refunds and cancellations
Last updated 9 October 2026
Fences and gates are measured and made for one property, so they cannot be returned like goods bought off a shelf. This page explains what happens if you cancel, and what we do if something we supplied is not right.
Cancelling before we have started
If you cancel after accepting a quote but before we have ordered materials or begun fabrication, we refund what you have paid, less any reasonable costs we have already had to carry for your job. We will tell you what those costs are.
Cancelling after we have started
Once materials have been ordered or fabrication has begun, those materials and that work are specific to your property and usually cannot be used elsewhere. If you cancel at this stage, you pay for the materials bought for your job and for the work done up to the day you cancel. Anything you have paid beyond that is refunded.
If we approached you
If you agreed to the work because we contacted you directly to sell it to you, the Consumer Protection Act gives you a cooling-off period. You may cancel in writing within five business days of the agreement, without giving a reason and without penalty, and we will refund you within fifteen business days of receiving your notice.
If something is defective
If goods we supplied turn out to be defective or unfit for their purpose within six months of delivery, you may ask us to repair them, replace them or refund you. This right comes from the Consumer Protection Act. In practice:
- tell us as soon as you notice the problem, with photographs if you can;
- we will come out and inspect it;
- where the fault is ours, we put it right at our cost, including the labour to remove and refit.
Any workmanship guarantee beyond these six months is stated on your quote. Branded equipment such as gate motors also carries its manufacturer's warranty.
What is not a defect
Ordinary wear over time, and damage that happens after installation, are not defects in what we supplied. Examples are vehicle impact, storm damage, damage by other contractors, and alterations made by someone else.
If we cannot complete the work
If we are unable to finish a job for a reason that lies with us, we refund you for anything you have paid for that we have not supplied.
How to ask for a refund
Contact us with your name, the property address and your quote number:
- Paul Mitchell: 072 188 3696 (call or WhatsApp)
- Andries vd Heever: 061 171 8223
- Email: info@pmfencing.co.za
- Workshop: 3 Foundry Street, Store 3, George, Western Cape, 6529
How refunds are paid
Once the amount is agreed, we pay refunds by electronic transfer to the account the payment came from, without unreasonable delay.
If we disagree
We would rather sort a problem out with you directly. If we cannot, you may approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud at cgso.org.za. Nothing on this page limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. See also our terms and conditions.
